St George's hosted the inaugural Plymouth and West Devon Trust school's art day last week. Children from the schools came together to spend the day learning about colour theory.
They created a sketch book page to show their learning including colour wheels of primary, secondary and tertiary colours, examples of tint tone and shade and terminology such as 'complementary colours', 'monochromatic' and 'vivid'.
They then created large pieces using their new found skills of tone, tint and shade which, once dry, were cut into feather shapes and the children used chalk pens to create patterns on these. It was lovely to see the children working and playing together, making new friendships. It really helped them understand that St Christopher's Trust is made up of many parts. It was also great for the staff to get to know each other too. Huge thanks to Mrs Dyson for leading the day.
The culmination of the day was the creation of a collaborative piece which will now be exhibited alongside the outcomes of St George's art week. The exhibition will take place at Market Hall from 7th June until 14th June. Please do pop along and have a look if you are in the area.
