Having worked in the Education sector since 2012, Rachel is passionate about ensuring that all aspects of the organisation work towards improving the lives and experiences of our pupils and staff.
As a Chartered Accountant, Rachel comes with over twenty years of accounting experience, having qualified with Deloitte and she leads on finance for the Trust. She is determined that finance is used as a driver to ensure positive impact rather than be restrictive and uses her creativity to find solutions which improves provision, especially during challenging times. Rachel is willing to take calculated risks to ensure pupils are at the heart of every decision, rather than simply improving the balance sheet! As CFPO, Rachel is also the lead for our People team and is passionate about creating a culture and ethos where staff thrive professionally, personally and spiritually, knowing that this ultimately will have the best impact on our pupils.
Rachel grew up in and still lives in Torquay, in fact, she is an ex-pupil of one of our primary schools! The deprivation seen in this area and across the South-West is a big driver for Rachel to want to use her skills to ensure the Trust offer is the best it can be and aimed at giving our pupils the best possible start in life, irrelevant of their backgrounds. Rachel has a heart for community and empowering people and since qualifying as an accountant, has only ever worked in the charitable or education sectors.
Rachel is an active member of a local church, and lives with her husband and two children – the absolute joy of her life!
