We're delighted to announce that Upton St James Primary School have secured £10k funding to change their outdoor space from Grey to Green.
They have joined the National Education Nature Park programme with an aim to improve biodiversity in their Torbay site. The scheme aims to educate pupils and empower them to make a positive difference to their future and the nature in their area.
The school's Eco-Warriors club have been busy planning and measuring their space. They plan to use their grant to transform their outdoor areas with planters and trees to attract pollinators, and by growing fruit and vegetables to be used in cookery and school lunches. Their plans also include water saving devices, sheds, tools, and seating to better access the outdoors to observe nature.
The scheme is funded by Department of Education and administered by The Royal Horticultural Society. Currently our eligible Trust schools are Upton St James and St Marychurch but likely to have a greater reach in future - we will be keeping our eyes peeled!
